Java All-in-One For Dummies, 4th Edition

This was the first "Dummies" book I ever book. I always kept away from them mostly due to their title. But I find myself going to and reaching for this book as more of a reference rather than reading it from front to back. I have other Java books for reading the entirely. But if I'm not clear on some topics or want more clarity this book has surprised me and fed me the information I needed to get past the current step and onto the next.

Like I said I use it for more of a reference book. Plenty of good examples of ways and sometimes different ways of doing things other books might not "tell" you about. Overall this is an excellent book, especially for people relatively new to programming. The author meticulously explains Java basics, object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, and more.

Included are relatively complicated and useful code examples that are thoroughly examined and explained. That said, I do have two complaints. Sometimes it seems as though the author's intentionally using wordy sentences, useless information, etc.

All the code examples that I've tested thus far have worked fine, but the book is riddled with basic typos. I attached an image of the page that convinced me to write this review. Learning more from this book than from my College Courses, and im going for my bachelors not some technical school.

First of all let me say that this book does a good job of explaining the concepts of Java. The author explains things in an easy to understand way.

The tone is very casual and it feels like you are being taught by a friend, as opposed to say a professor.
